What’s the difference between organic and industrial produced food?

What health and environmental benefits are associated with organic food? Three initiatives in the Marbella area may give you some answers.

Fidela Peña runs vegetarian cookery courses. She has an in-depth knowledge of how organic vegetables combine, and the health benefits associated with them. You can contact Fidela on 677 701 493

Rashida Reidel, of Easy Dishes also offers cooking classes, but her expertise covers also meat. Did you know that the average supermarket chicken grows to 2 kilos in just 30 days whereas the organic chicken will need 115 days, almost four times as much time to gain the same weight? Rashida will tell you why. She also organizes tours to markets and wineries. You can contact Rashida on 654 931 208 or http://easydishes.com

Tim & Vanessa Errington are chiropractics in the Centro Comercial de Gudalmina. They know a great deal about how our bodies work, not just mechanically but the importance of our nervous system. They recommend a 100 days vegetarian diet, which has helped many of their patients not just to loose weight but reverse cardiovascular diseases. The intake of animal fats has increases tremendously over the last decades, and these fats accumulate also in our blood vessels, and can lead to hypertension heart attack and stroke. You can contact Tim or Vanessa on 952 880 398 or www.marbellachiropractic.com

Organic Supermarket in Marbella on Bio-Wheels

We started our initiative just two months ago, bridging the needs of organic farmers and customers on the Costa del Sol. We started with a small list of fresh fruit and vegetables and this has increased, due to the growing needs of ecologically conscientious people on the Coast. We have incorporated award winning cheeses, fresh organic meat, outstanding organic ham, and ecological pet food, and now offer well over 150 different items. People living in the greater Marbella area just place their orders once a week and get all their organic food delivered to their door step. This does not only save you time and money, but it reduces your carbon foot print. The average trip to the supermarket will produce some 300 kg of CO2 p.a.

Organic Pet Food in Marbella

Curiously, most of our customers buying organic food have dogs and cats
Sadly, organic dry dog food and tinned dog food is currently not manufactured in Spain, and consequently we have started to import it from Germany. The manufacturer from Munich has all the governmental certificates. The manufacture produces dog food of outstanding quality.
Organic dog food may provide your pet with the best chance combating skin infections and allergies long term. It is free of artificial colours and flavours enhancers, chemical additives and toxic pesticides that could be the source of your dog’s allergies. Organic dog food contains quality protein and grain sources of exceptional nutritional value. This supports your dog’s immune system to help build resistance to skin infections
Since it is naturally more nutritious, many owners report their dogs eat less organic dog food than other commercial varieties. Organic food doesn’t contain bulk-fillers, so your dog consumes only what it needs to maintain healthy energy levels and life functions. It probably tastes better to your dog, too! Dogs feel more satiated eating smaller amounts of tasty, nutrient-dense foods. An organic diet can help your dog lose weight and exercise more.
Superior sources of grains and proteins and a lack of chemicals and artificial substances makes organic dog food more digestible.

Pesticides in Fruit and Vegetables

The US Department of Agriculture analysed between 2000 and 2007 87.000 samples of fruit and vegetables and tested them for traces of pesticides. As an example, 96,6 % of peaches had traces of pesticides, up to 42 different ones, actually. Some samples had traces of 9 different pesticides!! Hippocrates said: let your food be your medicine, and undoubtedly, most food commercially available cannot provide the quality our health requires. http://foodnews.org/methodology.php
